Napa Valley winemaker kills investor and shortly after kills himself;
this was all witnessed by police.
47 Year old Robert Dahl (winemaker) shot 48 year old Emad
Tawfilis (investor) on Monday March 16, 2015. Tawfilis had lent Dahl $1.2
million to finance a Napa Valley winery.
But last year Tawfilis sued Dahl after learning that the business he had
invested in (Patio Wine) was invalid. Dahl was using that money borrowed in a
Napa craft brewery that at that time according to the Times was losing $100,000
a month. Police say Dahl asked to meet
Tawfilis at Dahl vineyards in Yountville, California on Monday to discuss terms
off a settlement. The encounter was just
a setup to ambush and kill Emad. Once there authorities say Dahl pulled a gun
and chased Emad in his suv and when Emad tripped and fell Dahl got off the car
and shot him. Dahl got back in his car and crashed; when police got closer they
discovered Dahl had shot himself as well.
