To me this quote means that the more rules you follow the better and easier life will be for you. as long as you are obeying someone's rules you will have all the freedom you desire, because no one will be able to tell you no in anything because you have been doing all that is asked of you and not only that but you will feel good about yourself and enjoy your free time.

Obedience

Obedience is listening to those who have authority, following rules given to you my anyone with major authority than yours or others.

Synonyms: respect, willingness, & compliance

Examples: my father will always have obedience from my part because of the authority he has, he has always been a great father.
