Dental assistant

A dental assistant assists the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures. They take care of radiographs; ask about patient’s medical history, take blood pressure, pulse, sterilizing instruments & equipment. They also provide direct patient care in all dental specialties including orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, and periodontics & oral surgery.

Salary: $35,000 to $47,000

Education: it is a short term career which only takes about nine months.


Becoming a dental assistant is what I have wanted to do for a while, the job really interests me. I got familiar with this job because my sister is a dental assistant, she inspired me and she enjoys her job.

Dental Lab Technician


A dental lab technician is someone who creates corrective devices and replacements for natural teeth. They work closely with the dentists who plan the treatment and place the restoration or corrective device in the patient’s mouth.

Salary: $28,496                                                                                                                              

Education: 0-2 years of school


Reflection: after reading and learning more about this medical career, I would be interested in working as a dental lab technician because you still help someone out but don’t have to go through seeing a patients mouth.

Duties and Responsibilities:  professional tele communicator their task is to gather information related to medical emergencies and instructions by voice until ambulance arrival.

Salary: from $21,593 - $51,163

Education: high school diploma and two-to-four-year college.  



Reflection: I think I’d be interested in this job because I would love to help others yet not see blood or people crying. I think this particular job would apply to my career field, it seems interesting and I would give it a try.
